Nature on Construction AR Experience

More and more green spaces are stripped for providing a new building. Nature is replaced with a human-built environment; it is inevitable, but the process is not a short one. A process of changing memories from trees and grasses into a gated area full of soil and dust during the construction that takes months, and years. This memory of nature was gone at the moment the construction started.
What if we can prolong that memory of greeneries at construction sites? Would that ease the transition so the locals who have those memories can be in touch with nature again?

Nature on Construction is a 3D hand-painted installation inside the virtual world. When man-made construction erases the memory of nature, it reminds us to cherish and take comfort from a piece of what could be left, embodied by the orchids that could bloom for a long time.

Concept Design:
1. Nature heals. The beauty of nature can heal the void left by the construction process. Replacing and growing greeneries takes time, but in the meantime, why not enjoy the virtual version?
2. A new reality. What is seen on screen, is that always a reality? Unfortunately, many have fallen into that trap, proven by low level of digital literacy. And that is a new reality.
3. Engaging. The visual style and animation makes people feel more invited to interact with the area around the site and create a new memory, a happier one.

This work is exhibited at Bintaro Design District 2023, from 8-18 November, corresponding to the festival's theme: Envisioning Nature.
